Tebow still at helm of streaking Broncos
Tim Tebow completed only
two passes over the weekend against the Chiefs, but his team still
managed to pull out the victory. The Broncos quarterback will be
looking for some more of that magic this week when his team plays
host to the New York Jets in a Thursday night contest (8:20pm ET,
NFL Network).
That's one of three primetime games on the NFL's schedule for Week
11, with the New York Giants getting a visit from the Philadelphia
Eagles on Sunday night (8:20pm ET, NBC), and the Kansas City Chiefs
playing on the road against the New England Patriots on Monday night
(8:30pm ET, ESPN).
Tebow attempted only eight passes in Kansas City over the weekend,
but one of them was a 56-yard touchdown strike to Eric Decker in the
fourth quarter that sealed the 17-10 victory for his team. In total
Tebow threw for only 69 yards, but he wasn't sacked and he wasn't
intercepted en route to a QB Rating of 102.6.
As well, Tebow managed to scramble for 43 yards and a touchdown on
nine carries in the victory on a day in which starting running back
Willis McGahee left early with a hamstring injury. Broncos coach
John Fox said after the game that McGahee could've returned to the
field in an emergency situation.
Lance Ball picked up much of the slack for McGahee, running for 96
yards on 30 carries, while Knowshon Moreno had 52 yards rushing on
four attempts before spraining his knee. Moreno is likely to miss
Thursday night's game against the Jets.
The win over the Chiefs put Denver at 4-5 both SU and ATS on the
season, leaving them a game back of the Oakland Raiders and tied
with both the San Diego Chargers and the Chiefs in the AFC West
standings. Heading into Thursday the Jets are 5-4 SU and 4-5 ATS on
the season after getting thumped on Sunday.
New York was soundly beaten 37-16 at home by the Patriots on Sunday
night, getting outscored 24-7 in the second half as they struggled
to control New England's offense. That has the Jets now trailing the
Pats in the AFC East standings by a single game, and they're also
one game back of both the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati
Bengals for the AFC's Wild Card berths.
Jets QB Mark Sanchez struggled against New England, completing just
20 of his 39 passes for 309 yards with one touchdown while getting
picked off twice to post a QB Rating of 64.7. Shonn Greene was held
to 61 yards rushing on 13 carries.
The Patriots are 6-3 SU and 5-4 ATS heading into their Monday
meeting with the Chiefs, who are 4-5 SU and 5-4 ATS. The Giants,
meanwhile, are 6-3 SU and 4-4-1 ATS as they look for their second
win of the season over the struggling Eagles, who have been a huge
disappointment at 3-6 both SU and ATS on the season.
The Giants and Eagles met back in Week 3, with New York grabbing a
29-16 win as a 7.5-point road underdog. Eli Manning went 16 of 23
for 254 yards passing with four touchdown strikes in that contest,
while Eagles counterpart Michael Vick went 16 of 23 for only 176
yards with one interception before suffering a hand injury. Vick
broke two ribs in Philadelphia's loss to the Cardinals over the
weekend.
Oddsmaker will have all your NFL betting lines and totals for the
Week 11 schedule. The Jets opened as 4-point road favorites against
the Broncos, while the Giants were 3-point home favorites on the
early line against the Eagles as Vick's injury news was being
processed.
