Cowboys benefit from BCS shakeup

If the Oklahoma State Cowboys don't lose between now and the time when bowl bids go out they're probably going to be playing in the BCS Championship Game. The Cowboys will try to continue their unbeaten season on Saturday afternoon when they play host to the Baylor Bears (3:30pm ET).

Oklahoma State (7-0 SU, 6-1 ATS) moved up to No. 3 in the BCS standings for this week partially because they got past Missouri 45-24 over the weekend, but mostly because rival Oklahoma was upset by Texas Tech. That pushed the Cowboys up from No. 4 to No. 3 on the list, and moved the Sooners down to No. 9.

Brandon Weeden had a strong game for Oklahoma State at quarterback in their win over Missouri, completing 33 of his 49 pass attempts for 338 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Joseph Randle was also a big contributor on Saturday, rushing for 138 yards and three scores, while Randle, Michael Harrison, and Justin Blackmon all caught TD passes.

The Cowboys bounced Baylor (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS) by a score of 55-28 when those schools met last season, and at Oddsmaker they're listed as 17-point home favorites for this weekend's matchup.

Oklahoma lost 41-38 at home to Texas Tech to do serious damage to their national title hopes although they do still have Oklahoma State on their schedule for later in the season. Landry Jones went 30 of 55 for 412 yards with five touchdown strikes and one interception against the Red Raiders, and Kenny Stills caught eight balls for 135 yards and two touchdowns.

The Sooners (6-1 SU, 4-3 ATS) will try to get back on track this weekend, but they will be on the road against undefeated Kansas State (7-0 SU, 6-1 ATS).

The Wildcats moved up from No. 11 to No. 8 in the BCS standings this week after trouncing rival Kansas 59-21 on the road on Saturday. Kansas State QB Collin Klein threw one touchdown pass and ran for four scores in that easy win over the Jayhawks, while John Hubert rushed for 92 yards and a TD on his 17 carries.

Despite the better record, though, Kansas State is listed as a 14-point home underdog for this weekend against Oklahoma. The Wildcats will be beginning a stretch of game against ranked teams on Saturday, as they'll take on Oklahoma State and Texas A&M after tangling with the Sooners this week.

LSU and Alabama remain at 1-2 in the BCS standings this week, and they're both off until they play each other on November 5; the loser of that game runs the risk of falling out of the Top 2 on the BCS list, and behind a team like Oklahoma State.

Boise State, at No. 4 in the current BCS standings, is also idle this week, while No. 5 Clemson and No. 6 Stanford are on the road against Georgia Tech and Southern Cal, respectively. Clemson is listed as a 4.5-point favorite for their game on Saturday at Oddsmaker, while the Cardinal are favored by 9 points this week.
