Titans, Texans battle for AFC South control

With the collapse of the Indianapolis Colts this season the AFC South has been left in the hands of the Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans. Those two teams will battle for first place in the AFC South on Sunday afternoon (1:00 pm ET, CBS).

The Texans (3-3 SU, 3-3 ATS) will be trying to snap a two-game losing streak on Sunday; they fell 25-20 at home to Oakland two weeks ago, and they were dropped 29-14 on the road against the Ravens in their Week 6 contest on Sunday.

Houston had a 14-13 lead on Baltimore late in the third quarter in that game, but then gave up 16 unanswered points to get tagged with the loss. Matt Schaub completed 21 of his 37 pass attempts for 220 yards and a touchdown in the defeat, while Arian Foster was held to 49 yards on 15 carries. Ben Tate ran for 41 yards on nine attempts, and Jacoby Jones had the team's TD reception in the third quarter.

Foster has scored just one touchdown so far this season, rushing for 305 yards on 77 carries in his four games. Schaub has a TD/INT ratio of 10/5 through six games for the Texans this season, throwing for 1,597 yards with his QB Rating at 90.7.

The Titans (3-2 SU, 2-3 ATS) are coming off their bye week; they were beaten 38-17 on the road by the Steelers in their last matchup back in Week 5 of the season.

Matt Hasselbeck went 29-of-49 for 262 yards through the air for the Titans in that loss, with one touchdown strike and one interception. Damian Williams had a TD catch in the game, and Chris Johnson ran for 51 yards and a score on 14 carries.

On the season Johnson has rushed for just 250 yards over five games with one touchdown run. Hasselbeck has posted a QB Rating of 95.9 while throwing for 1,414 yards with nine touchdowns and four interceptions through five contests.

At Oddsmaker the Titans are listed as 3.5-point favorites for this matchup on Sunday, with the OVER/UNDER for the game at 43.5 points. The two teams split their meetings last season, with each of them winning and covering the posted spread at home. Tennessee is 7-3 both SU and ATS in its last 10 against Houston.
