Tigers vs. Hokies highlights ACC betting slate

Three Atlantic Coast Conference schools have 4-0 records heading into Week 5 of the college football schedule, and two of those teams will meet up on Saturday night as the Virginia Tech Hokies host the Clemson Tigers (6:00pm ET).

For No. 11 Virginia Tech (4-0 SU, 1-3 ATS), Saturday will be their first conference matchup of the season. The Hokies opened the campaign with a 66-13 win over cupcake Appalachian State, then picked up consecutive wins over East Carolina (17-10) and Arkansas State (26-7) before beating Marshall 30-10 last time out.

David Wilson carried the Hokies' offense against the Thundering Herd, rushing for 132 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. Josh Oglesby ran for 75 yards and two scores in the contest, while QB Logan Thomas went 22-of-33 for 229 yards passing with one rushing TD and one interception.

No. 13 Clemson (4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS) has been much kinder to college football bettors so far this season, getting past Troy 43-19 in their opening game of the season, topping Wofford 35-27 in Week 2, and then impressing in back-to-back victories over Auburn (38-24) and Florida State (35-30).

Against the Seminoles QB Tajh Boyd threw for 344 yards with three touchdowns and one interception and also ran for a score, while Andre Ellington rushed for 71 yards and a TD on 23 carries. Sammy Watkins caught eight passes for 141 yards and two scores in that Clemson win, and Dwyane Allen had the other TD catch.

On the Oddsmaker college football lines Virginia Tech sits as a 7-point favorite for this ACC contest right now, with the Hokies winning their most recent matchup 41-23 back in October 2007 thanks to touchdowns off both a kickoff and a punt return.

The other unbeaten ACC team, No. 21 Georgia Tech (4-0 SU, 4-0 ATS) is on the road against N.C. State (2-2 SU, 0-4 ATS) this weekend as 11-point favorites at Oddsmaker. The Yellow Jackets won their first three games of the season against non-conference opponents Western Carolina, Middle Tennessee, and Kansas, then won their ACC opener by a score of 35-28 over North Carolina last week.

QB Tevin Washington completed 10 of his 14 pass attempts for Georgia Tech in that win over the Tar Heels for 184 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for 74 yards and two scores on the day. Stephen Hill had the TD catch for the Jackets.

The other ACC team ranked in the Top 25 of the AP Poll, No. 23 Florida State, is on a bye this week, while in other ACC action it's Wake Forest at Boston College (pick'em), Idaho at Virginia (-17.5), North Carolina (-7) at East Carolina, Bethune-Cookman at Miami, Towson at Maryland, and Duke at Florida International.
