Top Big Ten teams look to rebound

Week 3 of the college football season didn't go as planned for either Ohio State or Michigan State. They'll be hoping for better results in Week 4 on Saturday, as Ohio State hosts Colorado (3:30pm ET) and Michigan State gets a visit from Central Michigan (12:00pm ET).

Ohio State got behind early against Miami over the weekend and was tagged with a 24-6 road loss. The Buckeyes could muster only a pair of field goals in that contest, and gave up a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter and another one in the final frame en route to the defeat.

The Buckeyes' passing game was almost non-existent against the Hurricanes, with Braxton Miller completing two of four pass attempts for 22 yards and an interception, and Joe Bauserman connecting on only two of his 14 throws for 13 yards. Both quarterbacks were also sacked once in the loss.

Jordan Hall ran for 87 yards on 14 carries for a Buckeyes team that is now 2-1 on the season. Ohio State managed to beat Akron and Toledo by a combined score of 69-22 in their first two games of the year.

Ohio State will try to get back into the win column on Saturday against a Colorado team that picked up their first victory of the season over the weekend, beating Colorado State 28-14. Buffaloes QB Tyler Hansen threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns in that win and also rushed for a pair of scores.

Michigan State also lost on the road in Week 3, falling 31-13 to give Notre Dame their first win of the season. Spartans quarterback Kirk Cousins went 34-of-53 for 329 yards passing in that contest, with one touchdown strike and one interception, while B.J. Cunningham picked up 158 yards through the air on 12 catches.

The Spartans will be looking to tune up their running game against Central Michigan on Saturday, as Le'Veon Bell led the team with just 27 rushing yards on seven carries against the Fighting Irish. The Chippewas have won just one of three games so far this season, falling 44-14 to Western Michigan over the weekend.

Four Big Ten teams remain undefeated after three weeks of play, with Wisconsin, Illinois, Nebraska, and Michigan all 3-0. Wisconsin hosts South Dakota on Saturday, Illinois gets a visit from Western Michigan, Nebraska is on the road against Wyoming, and Michigan will be at home against San Diego State.

In other Big Ten action this weekend Penn State is at home against Eastern Michigan, Iowa gets a visit from Louisiana Monroe, Minnesota is at home against North Dakota State, and Indiana hits the road to take on North Texas.
